Beginning in 1978, Coach John Veith helped lead the SMCC golf program to great success over a 30+ year period, including five years as Head Coach and 20 years as Assistant Coach. With a combined record of 572 head to head match wins and 157 losses over the years, the Panther golf teams posted an impressive 80% winning percentage.

11 SBC Championships, two as Head Coach with 20 individual top-three finishes.
32 Invitational Tournament Championships in 25 years.
10 Sectional Championships with 20 individual top-three finishes.
One District Championship with 10 individual top-three finishes.
Six Top-Ten State Team Championship finishes with 3rd Place in 2008.
Two Individual State Championship Qualifiers (Jeff Sennish-1985, and Aaron Ebert-2007)

Football
John, Class of 1954, was a 3-year letter winner in football and a member of the 1951 SBC Championship team, the first in the school’s history.

He won 11 City of Sandusky Class “A” Individual Golf Championships at Mills Creek, and in 1998, he won the first City Senior Individual Golf Championship. After playing golf for over 65 years, John scored his first hole-in-one at Mills Creek on the 128 yard 7th hole in 2018.
